Recently Lucy and Lizzie, from Closet Brewing, invited me to create the packaging design for their 2024 lemon grisette. And being a super-fan of this beer a year ago, I immediately jumped at the chance.

Working with them I developed a new name, Lemon Soul, for their refreshing summer ale. Design and typographic inspiration came from geometric patterns and classic vinyl soul album covers of the 1970s. Various colourways were explored before we settled on the light blue to counterbalance the lemon slice with its heart shaped pips. As well as applying the design elements to the can, I also adapted them for a cask label.

I’m looking forward to grabbing a few cans of this delicious vegan beer to enjoy on those evenings when the sun decides that it will come out to play
